Puna Information Update for May 7th, 2019

Police are investigating a Shooting/Weapons that occurred in Puna Tuesday Afternoon (May 7th)

The Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a report of shooting/weapon incident that occurred in the Ola'a, Puna Tuesday afternoon (May 7th).

The initial call came in at 2:30 pm Tuesday afternoon and Puna Patrol officers responded to the scene located at the 16-1000 block of 40th Avenue between Pikake Place and Oliana Street in Ola'a. Upon the arrival of officers, reporting party reported shot was fired in a residence's window on 40th Avenue and responsible party had left the scene.

Once officers arrived on scene, they determined no one was injured as a result of the shooting and they conducted a search of the area for the responsible party. HPD closed 40th Avenue between Pikake Place and Oliana Street while detectives began their investigation into the shooting.

HPD continuing with their investigation into the circumstances and have not release details if anyone was taken into custody as a result of the incident.
