The Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas is scheduled to make a port call off shore of Kailua-Kona on September 29th, 2019 and then again a year later on September 24th, 2020 as apart of the tour of the Pacific.
Ovation of the Seas is one of the largest cruise ship in the Royal Caribbean International (RCI) fleet. It made it's first Hawaii stop at Honolulu Harbor on May 1st to May 3rd, 2019 with close to 5,000 passengers aboard. Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advised motorists of the increased in activity on Ala Moana Boulevard and Nimitz Highway and to expect delays.
With Ovation of the Seas planned stop at Kailua-Kona, this will be one of the largest cruise ships to make a stop in Kailua-Kona. With close to 5,000 passengers expected to be on aboard, officials are asking motorist and those who frequent Kailua Pier and Village, to anticipate increase volume of foot traffic, taxi, ride-share, and also bus traffic when Ovations of the Sea makes anchorage and expect delays. The cruise ships port call is scheduled from 8:00 am to departure and last call at 6:00 pm same day.
As we get closer to Ovation of the Seas port call in September, we will make another update to remind residences and those who frequent Kailua Village and Pier to anticipate delays.
