Resurfacing work on Hualālai St. in Hilo between Kapi‘olani St. and Kīlauea Ave. that was scheduled to take place Monday, April 15, 2019 through Thursday, April 18, 2019 has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. The County of Hawai’i Department of Public Works Highway Maintenance Division plans to conduct the work Monday, April 29, 2019, to Thursday, May 2, 2019. Work is scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., weather and construction conditions permitting.
Work is planned to be done on the Hualālai St. roadway in 2 phases. On April 29th- 30th, from Kapi‘olani St. to Kino‘ole St. and May 1st – May 2nd from Kino‘ole St. to Kīlauea Ave. There will be no parking along the roadway during the work period. Alternating lane closures will be in effect and work will be done on one lane at a time. Travel in both directions will be provided with traffic control personnel posted in the area to facilitate traffic movement.
During the scheduled repair work motorists are advised to drive with caution and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid the area during the scheduled work times.
