Waikoloa Village Information Update for July 3rd, 2019
Small aircraft (Plane) makes a precautionary landing Waikoloa Road in South Kohala.

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a aircraft that made an emergency landing on Waikoloa Road Wednesday morning (July 3rd).
The initial call came in at 10:38 am and crews from the Waikoloa Fire Station along with Battalion 2 responded to the scene located approximately 1 mile West of Waikoloa Village on Waikoloa Road near the 4-mile marker.
Upon the arrival of crews, witnesses reported an aircraft (was reported to be a small Cessna) had made a emergency landing on Waikoloa Road and was reported to be off the roadway with the occupants had self-extricated from the aircraft and reported to have no injuries.
Once on scene, HFD crews determine the aircraft was off roadway with the occupants of the aircraft. HFD Medics evaluated all occupants (reported to be 2 passengers aboard at the time of emergency landing) of the aircraft and determined all did not need require further medical attention. Once no injuries were determined at scene, HFD crews worked to secure/stablize the plane until an FAA investigator arrived on scene.
Waikoloa Road is open at this time to all traffic, however they are asking members of the public not to crowd/gather at the scene.
Unknown what circumstances lead to the emergency landing and remains under investigation.
