One person critically injured following a single-vehicle accident in Waikoloa Village on Thursday afternoon (October 24th).
The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a critical single-vehicle accident in Waikoloa Village on Thursday afternoon (October 24th).
The initial call came in just after 2:45 pm and crews from the Waikoloa Fire Station responded to the scene located at the 68-1800 block of Auhili Loop near Paniolo Avenue & Kauhiwai Street intersection in Waikoloa Village.
Upon the arrival of HFD crews, bystanders reported a single vehicle was involved in an accident that was headed northbound crossed the centerline and struck a street light post and the occupant of the vehicle (describe as a female in her 50's) was reported to have suffered traumatic injuries and unresponsive. Bystanders were providing basic medical aid and life-saving measures to the female patient until emergency crews arrived on scene.
Once HFD crews arrived on the scene, HFD crews immediately took over medical care and later transported the female patient in extremely critical condition to the North Hawaii Community Hospital, where at this time, the condition of the patient remains unknown at this time.
HFD crews later turned the scene over to officers from the Area II Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) as they began their investigation into the cause and circumstances of the crash.
