Waipio Valley Information Update for September 2nd, 2019
Rescue crews will resume search at first light tomorrow morning (Tuesday, September 3rd) for missing person Kyle Brittain.

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) are currently conducting a search for missing person Kyle Brittain, who was last seen in the Waipio Valley lookout on Friday, August 30th, 2019.
HFD Rescue crews from the Waiakea Fire Station along with Chopper 1 and HPD officers commenced with their search at first light this morning (Monday, September 2nd) and came up with negative findings and will continue again tomorrow morning (Tuesday, September 3rd) at first light. HFD were also out yesterday conducting a thorough search by land and air of Waipio Valley and came up with negative findings yesterday. Officials say they will continue for another couple of days.
Family members describe Brittain as 27-years-old, 5'10" with brown hair and brown eyes. He did mention to family members he was going go for a day hike in Waipio Valley and possibly head up the switchback trails (or Z-Trails) to Waimanu Valley. Family members say he was last seen Friday and has not been heard from since. They remain hopeful for safe and good outcome.
Volunteers have also joined the search and continuing to conduct land searches within Waipio Valley and also a K9 Search and Rescue from Kaua'i has joined the search as well. Volunteers will continue with their search tomorrow morning.
