Website Information Update for May 8th, 2019

Some Big Changes are ahead for Hawaii Island Radio Scanner Community

Aloha Everyone,


First of all, the team here at Hawaii Island Radio Scanner Community (HIRSC) would truly like to thank all of our followers and also new followers for you continued supported to our website and also Facebook page and group.


Our team behind the scenes has significantly has grown over the last couple of years from just one sole person to now a great group of individuals, with the new addition to our team, we are making some more new additions as well. Here are some of the new things coming:

  • Since our Southern Nevada addition, we have been getting request to expand further and well, we are officially adding Southern Utah to our line up beginning soon. The date of that release is yet to be determined.

  • HIRSC team has decided to continue with Live Updates on our Facebook page, we are currently working some equipment upgrades and additions to help with making our Live Updates more interactive for users on all platforms.

  • Our team behind the scenes is currently testing a new notification system of updates that are added to our website and also any alerts that could effect your way of life. We are also developing an app (for both Android and iOS) that will also have push notification updates on what is happening out there and important information that is needed to be relayed onto you. Still a lot of works still needs to be done, but once it's ready for release, we will let you know how you can be apart of our notification system and how to download the app.

  • Our team is also working on creating and possibly holding online/physical crash course on scanners (basic operations, familiarization with how agencies respond to incident, social media/reporting, do's and don'ts, etc.). It's topic that is still being looked at by team and how it should be held and instructors. We will let you know when that becomes available and how you can be apart of it.

  • West Hawaii Scanner Outage Notice: The Scanner Feed will go offline for equipment maintenance/installation and also internet connection/service upgrades on the following dates:

- May 10th, 2019 - 9 pm to May 11th, 2019 - 1 am (Scanner Changeover)

- May 13th, 2019 - 4 pm to 6 pm (Internet Service/Provider Upgrades)

- May 17th, 2019 - 8 pm to May 18th, 2019 - 2 am (Display Mount Installation)


(Please note any significant events that may occur during those times, we will not be able to bring the scanner online for that event, our team will do their best during those times to monitor the event and provide updates as needed, we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause and thank you for your cooperation and understanding)
