West Hawaii Flood Advisory for March 15th, 2020
Notice Level: Urgent (Information Statement Needed)
A Flood Advisory has been issued for the districts of South Kohala and North and South Kona until 7:00 pm Sunday evening (March 15th). Moderate to heavy showers were reported occurring in the Pohakuloa Training Area, Pu'uanahulu, and Pu'uwa'awa'a areas. (See Post for further details).

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a * Flood advisory for... The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County * Until 700 PM HST. * At 402 PM HST, radar indicated heavy showers over leeward and interior Big Island from Waimea to Kailua-Kona to Kealakekua, with rain falling at rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. The heaviest showers have been falling along Mamalahoa Highway. * Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to... Kailua-Kona, Pohakuloa Camp, Captain Cook, Puuanahulu, Honaunau, Kahaluu-Keauhou, Waikoloa Village, Kainaliu, Kealakekua, Honalo, Kalaoa and Pohakuloa Training Area. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don`t drown. && This advisory may need to be extended beyond 700 PM HST if heavy rain persists.
