Hawaii Fire Department

 

Ocean Safety Division

All Ocean Safety Lifeguards (or Beach Lifeguards) are under the Hawaii Fire Department Special Operations Division. They also have converted to the new digital radio system along with HFD back in March of 2017.

Hawaii Fire Department Ocean Safety Lifeguards have a total of 12 Lifeguard Stations around Hawaii Island and consist of full time (7 days a week) and part-time stations (manned only on weekends/holidays/seasonally).

Also, now comprise of 2 Jet Ski units (One for East Hawaii and one for West Hawaii) that used in ocean rescue situations and also assist with rescue operations within the area they are stationed at as well.

 

West Hawaii: Hapuna Beach State Park, La'aloa (Magic Sands), Kahalu'u Beach Park, Maniniowali Beach (Kua Bay), and Spencer Beach Park (Part-Time)

 

East Hawaii: Onekahakaha Beach Park, Isaac Hale Beach Park (Pohoiki), Carlsmith Beach Park, Leleiwi Beach Park, Honoli'i Beach Park, Ahalanui Beach Park, and Punalu'u Black Sand Beach (Part-Time)

All lifeguard stations operate on the TGID coincides with the District there located in and use the secondary operations channel for station to station communications while on-duty.
